A music box made by Arthur for his daughter Faroe. It was buried with her. It makes a reappearance in the Dreamlands when the Trader has it among his wares. Kayne had planted it there as a lure to get Arthur and John to the city so he could meet them. Becomes bloodstained while being handled by Kayne. Gets broken by Wallace Larson.
Description[]
It is a small, ornate metal box. On top of it is a painting of a girl, perhaps Faroe, holding a red rose and wearing a bonnet. When open, a steel-comb mechanism plays Faroe's Lullaby[1].
History[]
Arthur gave the original music box to Faroe as a gift, and she was buried with it.
In Part Nineteen, among the wares of the Trader, John describes this box and Arthur recognizes it, taking it as a sign Faroe is in the Dreamlands. In Part Twenty, they head to the city the Trader said it was from, where Kayne informs them it was a lure specifically for Arthur, and he has hundreds of copies. He lets Arthur leave with it.
In Part Twenty Three, the box had fallen from Arthur's bag and Uncle picked it up, fascinated. Later, Larson crushes it after Arthur threatened to kill him. Uncle has fixed it in Part Twenty Six, but after Arthur attacks him, it is not mentioned again.
